Need Help with Househunting in France?

Would you like to have a "real" feel for a property without having to travel to France and take vital time out from your current job where you sit dreaming of living in France? We know because we have been there.

Would you like some "real" on the ground information and "real" photos of houses which you have already fallen in love with on the internet or in a French property magazine? We would have loved some help when we were looking.

Since 2006 we have had several people stay with us who were house hunting and during the course of their stay we talked with them about our experiences, whilst enjoying the inevitable bottle of wine. The idea came to us to share our "knowledge" and the various problems we had encountered, together with the solutions, with our guests who were in the early stages of following their dream. We have been asked to visit properties on the behalf of the purchaser and meet with the estate agent (immobilier) in order to prepare information which the purchaser wanted and also to take specific photos which were not available on the relevant website. We enjoyed the visits and would like to think we were able to help the prospective buyer make an informed decision as to whether they should book vital annual leave and fly over immediately or hold off until there were more suitable properties to visit.

Since beginning our new life in France we have discovered that there were just so many gaps in our knowledge of France, the language, the area and we really thought we had done our homework before we crossed the channel with all our worldly goods and our cat - BUT - just how wrong can you be? Simple things like - where is the doctors, where do I buy a cooker and other necessary items for a home, where is the social security office, how do I get my telephone/internet connected. We learnt pretty quickly as we were very fortunate with our French neighbours, however some people we know have been less fortunate.

So, our aim with this page on our website is to provide guests and prospective guests with any local help, knowledge of France in general that we can. So please do just ask and we will help in any way possible.
